My last days in Puerto Escondido & Oaxaca

After the nice visit from Austria, I enjoyed some relaxing time in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. First, I was visiting the beaches in Puerto Escondido and its special vibe, and I confirm - Puerto is such a dream! This place really feels like haven. The sunsets are amazing, the shops are hip, the beaches are unique, the music is everywhere and of course the food is delicious. I stayed in "La Punta Zicatela", the center of Puerto Escondido, in an incredible hostel called "Buena Onda". I highly recommend this hostel because I met so many people from all over the world there and they all quickly felt like family. Even though I was only going to stay for a few days, I ended up having the best time in Puerto Escondido for a week in total. These days were my last days in México, so I just tried to relax a bit and deeply inhale the Mexican culture and vibes one last time. Not only did I see dolphins and wales in Puerto, but I also met some old friends from Guadalajara. I was very happy to spend the last days with those "old" friends and to end my time in México with them. With one friend I also stayed afterwards two more days in the city Oaxaca, where our highlight was definitely the ride to the travertine rock formations "Hierve el Agua", which look like waterfalls. Whereas the ride with the Collectivo was already an unforgettable experience, the nature spectacle of this breathtaking attraction was even more phenomenal. I was surprised at what nature is capable: the waterfall-looking formations are created by fresh water springs that are over-saturated with various minerals. In the landscape of "Hierve el Agua" you can also see some small natural pools and go swimming. This visit was really worth the long journey from Oaxaca City. On my last day in Oaxaca, I tried myself in a wood cut printing workshop. Wood cut printing really seems to be a big thing in this city, that´s why I wanted to try it out. It´s really tiring and not as easy as you might think, but you end up with a nice result. At least I hope everyone recognized my motive of the workshop haha. I think this was an incredible ending to my México trip - I really enjoyed my time in Oaxaca! For my flight back, I afterwards had to return to Guadalajara which was a very good opportunity to say goodbye to my friends in Guadalajara and the city that captured my heart. Nach dem netten Besuch aus der österreichischen Heimat habe ich mich auf den Weg gemacht, noch eine entspannte Zeit im mexikanischen Bundesstaat Oaxaca zu genießen. Zuerst besuchte ich die Strände in Puerto Esondido und seine besondere Atmosphäre, und ich kann bestätigen - Puerto ist echt ein Traum! Dieser Ort fühlt sich wirklich an wie im Paradies. Die Sonnenuntergänge sind fantastisch, die Läden sind hip, die Strände sind einzigartig, die Musik ist überall und das Essen ist natürlich köstlich, wie immer. Ich wohnte in "La Punta Zicatela", dem Zentrum von Puerto Escondido, in dem einzigartigen Hostel namens "Buena Onda". Ich kann dieses Hostel nur empfehlen, weil ich dort so viele Leute aus der ganzen Welt kennenlernen durfte und es sich einfach anfühlte wie Familie. Obwohl ich dort zu Beginn nur ein paar Tage bleiben wollte, habe ich diesen Traum auf eine ganze Woche verlängert. Diese Tage waren meine letzten Tage in Mexiko, also versuchte ich, mich ein wenig zu entspannen und die mexikanische Kultur und Stimmung ein letztes Mal aufzunehmen. Ich habe nicht nur Delfine und Wale in Puerto gesehen, sondern auch einige alte Freunde aus Guadalajara nochmal zufällig getroffen. Ich war wirklich froh, die letzten Tage mit diesen "alten" Freunden zu verbringen und meine Zeit in Mexiko mit ihnen zu beenden. Mit einer Freundin blieb ich anschließend noch zwei Tage in der Stadt Oaxaca, wo unser Highlight definitiv die Fahrt zu den Travertin-Felsformationen "Hierve el Agua" war, die wie Wasserfälle aussehen. War schon die Fahrt mit dem Collectivo zu diesen Felsformationen ein unvergessliches Erlebnis, so war das Naturschauspiel dieser atemberaubenden Attraktion noch phänomenaler. Ich war überrascht, wozu die Natur allem fähig ist: Die wasserfallähnlichen Formationen entstehen durch Süßwasserquellen, die mit verschiedenen Mineralien übersättigt sind. In der Landschaft von "Hierve el Agua" kann man auch einige kleine natürliche Pools sehen und in ihnen baden. Dieser Besuch war die lange Anreise aus Oaxaca City wirklich wert. An meinem letzten Tag in Oaxaca habe ich mich in einem Woodcut-Printing-Workshop versucht. Diese Kunst scheint in dieser Stadt wirklich eine große Sache zu sein, deshalb wollte ich es unbedingt ausprobieren. Es ist wirklich anstrengend und nicht so einfach, wie man vielleicht denkt, aber am Ende hat man ein schönes Ergebnis. Zumindest hoffe ich, dass jeder mein Motiv des Workshops erkannt hat haha. Dies war tatsächlich ein unglaublicher Abschluss meiner Mexiko-Reise - ich habe meine Zeit in Oaxaca wirklich sehr genossen! Für meinen Rückflug musste ich anschließend noch nach Guadalajara zurückkehren, was zugleich eine sehr gute Gelegenheit war, mich von meinen Freunden in Guadalajara und der Stadt, die mein Herz erobert hat, zu verabschieden.
